Alternative Press Expo 2013 has come and gone! And I managed to take quite a bit of pictures. But still not enough! Argh. But regardless, it was a nice show. Now that time had passed since I was last there. I can now see it’s a little different from a main stream show but still cool. Lots of great artists making little crafty things n such. Well anywho, let’s get on with the pictures!…
My table set up didn’t change except the half-table was a lot smaller than I anticipated. But my table-neighbor was absent so i absorbed his portion later.
My neighbors to the left were really nice! The illustrator is Trista Musco (far right) and you can check out her work here —> http://www.qtrnevermore.com/ And she was accompanied by writer Mr. Comer and you can see some of his words over here —> http://sockdolager.net/puzzlebox/angels.html
My neighbors to the right had heads! HEADS! Mounted upon blocks! I thought they were hand puppets at first hehe. You can check out their stuff here —-> http://yetisandfriends.tumblr.com/
Aaaaadventure Time!!! Andy Ristano, storyboard artist and designer to Adventure Time was there too! Sadly, I didn’t have a chance to buy his stuff there. But he had some amazing prints and original books too!
I had a lot of free time during the show, so to pass the time… I sketch! And of course, that time is spent with Alec.
Casting Bones is an original graphic novel that was in front of my table. Again, I had some down time so I sketched their character. You can see their stuff here —> http://castingbones.com/
I took in some sketch commissions and here’s the first one of the weekend for Michelle and Erik (awesome peoples) :D Leeloo from Fifth Element!
The next one wasn’t just Cthulu. It’s Cthulu devouring the world!!!!
Zack got some of my prints from Big WOW! and now he has a sketch of the mighty great old one!
Tommy here got himself a Spider-Man/Batman sketch!
And now the most awesome kids ever. This pair came up and was in awe of my Nightmare on Elm St. print, as one of them was going to be Freddy for Halloween :D They asked about Freddy and wondered how he slayed his victims. I explained he’s like a nightmare.
"He kills you in your sleep? …like for real?"
"Well, in the movies."
Then came a disappointed “aww” haha! They each drew me sketches and I made them a quick Freddy sketch!!
Best. Sketches. Ever. A brutal dragon with crossbones! And a knife wielding psycho saying “Flesh ripping time!” :D gotta frame these!
And that’s it for pictures, wish I’d taken more (as always). But thanks to everyone who came out to the show!
